Get involved in your community.

 In General

We cannot seek achievement for ourselves and forget about progress and prosperity for our community. Our ambitions must be broad enough to include the aspirations and needs of others, for their sakes and for our own. It’s time to give back! This week’s focus is all about bettering our community. A little bit of help can go a long way!

Recently, celebrity rapper Drake has been donating to the community for his new God’s plan video. He challenged everyone via Instagram to lend a helping hand to their peers and community. Though this is old news, we should all take on this challenge. South suburban food pantries are beginning to take donations for their sixth annual April Fool’s Day hosted by the United Way Metro Chicago. Check out their website for details and how you can get involved.

Chicago Cares and Volunteer Match are also great community volunteering centers. Their goal is to offer 200 volunteer projects each month that are open to the public. Some of the options are:

  • After school tutor
  • Conducting mock interviews
  • Starting a community garden
  • Canine rescue

So go sign up today and invest in your community. You are Chicago!
